Binge Eating

Binge Eating, A fairly new disorder, also referred to as compulsive overeating. Some reachers believe it is the most common of the eating disorders affecting millions of Americans. Smiliar to Bulimia Nervosa, those with compulsive overeating or binge eating, frequently consume large amounts of food while feeling a lack of control or shame over their eating. However, this disorder  is different from belimia nervosa because people with binge eating disorder usually do not purge. People with compulsive overeating eat wheather they are hungry or not, and eat well past being comofortably full. If left untreated the consequences can become life threatening. This disorder often leads to obesity which is resposible for as many as 300,000 deaths per year, or other serious life threatening eating disorders, such as belimia nervosa and anorexia nervosa. Those who suffer from binge eating disorder are also at high risk of substance related disorders, and serious psychiatric conditions, including depression, anxiety disorder, and panic disorder. Studies have found that people with binge eating disorder maybe find it harder then other people to continue in a weight loss treatment. In addition, they may be more likely to regain weight quickly. This is some imformation about Binge eating, and the affects it can have on the binger. If you know of a binger, or are a binger yourself, Psychiatric treament would be a good step in seeking the help the binger needs in order to begin the recovery process.
